At the Eleventh World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference (MC11) on 11 December in Buenos Aires, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Albinas Zananavičius met with the Director-General of the WTO Roberto Azevêdo and noted that Lithuania strongly believed that multilateral trade rules were beneficial and dedicated special attention to their implementation.

On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, an informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu took place on 11 November in Brussels. This was the first meeting of the Israeli Prime Minister with heads of EU institutions and Foreign Ministers from EU member states after a 22-year break.

On 7 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius participated in the 24th OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna and drew attention to the insufficient progress in resolving the Russia-provoked conflict in Ukraine, as well as called for finding new solutions to it.

On 29-30 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended the fifth African Union - European Union (AU-EU) summit in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast. The event brought together EU and African leaders to discuss the future direction for the strengthened continental cooperation, as well as issues related to peace and security, migration, economic development, mobilization of investments, etc. The leaders from the two continents focused on investing in young people.

On 13 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius participated in the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, during which foreign affairs ministers and defence ministers focused on the African Union - EU Summit and the implementation of the EU Global Strategy in the area of security and defence.

The EU’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting took place on 13 November in Brussels. In the meeting, discussions on the ways of strengthening the EU’s strategic communication were held at the initiative of Lithuania and its partners. In October, the Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Romania and Croatia sent a letter to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, drawing her attention to the need to strengthen the StratComms of the European External Action Service (EEAS), in particular the East Stratcom Task Force that counters pro-Kremlin disinformation.

On 10 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received an award for promoting the Baltic states’ unity and cooperation. The medal of the Baltic Assembly (BA) was awarded at a joint meeting of the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers (BCM) in Tallinn.

On 17 October, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Albinas Zananavičius participated in the EU’s General Affairs Council (Art. 50) in Luxembourg, which finalised preparations for the upcoming European Council on 19-20 October. EU Foreign Ministers also exchanged opinions on media pluralism and the rule of law in the digital age.

On 10 October in Vilnius, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius participated in a flag-raising ceremony at the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence. The centre that celebrates its 5th anniversary was joined by the United States of America and Germany.

On 28 September, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met with China’s candidate for UNESCO’s post of Director-General Qian Tang,  has who has served as Assistant-Director General for Education of UNESCO. Qian Tang has arrived in Lithuania to present his candidacy.

On 20 September Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius participated in the ministerial meeting on the implementation of the agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali held in New York.  According to Minister Linkevičius, the stability of the whole Sahel region depends on the situation in Mali and directly affects Europe particularly in the context of illegal migration; therefore Lithuania contributes to the efforts of the international community to support a peace process in Mali.
