A Danish perspective on misinformation

A Danish perspective on misinformation, propaganda and fake news was presented at a symposium organized in Copenhagen last Friday by the Danish Foreign Ministry, the US Embassy and Mandag Morgen. Attended by Danish government, media and academic representatives, as well as officials from other countries, including Lithuania, the conference addressed such issues as the responsibility of the tech industry, state-sponsored disinformation and security policy, fact-checking and youth education.

Lithuania was represented by Vice-Minister E.Čivilis (in charge of the digital agenda), Ambassador G.Damušis, INFOBALT Director P.Vertelka. Google and other tech companies were criticized for promoting state-run Russian propaganda news agencies, i.e. RT and Sputnik, as legitimate news sites in their algorithmic services and search engines.
