Her Majesty the Queen’s New Year Reception

On January 3, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark hosted the annual New Year's reception, where ambassadors from countries accredited to Denmark were traditionally invited. This reception marked the Queen's final one, as she announced in her New Year's Eve address to the nation that on January 14, 2024, after 52 years on the throne, she will hand the throne to her oldest son, Crown Prince Frederik.

Denmark was the second country to recognize Lithuania's restored independence, and Queen Margrethe II was the first monarch to visit the newly independent Lithuania.
