Lithuanian artist Karina Matiukiene at the international workshop for visual artists in Brande
Description of the International Workshop for Visual Artists
In International Workshop for Visual Artists 2009, 16 artists from 7 countries in the world will for two weeks this summer work side by side at the old roundhouse of Brande, called RemisenBrande. The workshop period is from the 19th of July until the 31st of July 2009.
The International Workshop for Visual Artists ends up in an exhibition at Gallery SPOR1, Stationsvej 1, 7330 Brande on the 31st of July at 2PM-4PM.
The exhibition at SPOR 1 will be open for visitor until the 30th of October 2009.
The aim of the workshop is to further the networking and cooperation between artists across borders and thus our association “Kulturremisen” will supply the materials for the artists’ works, arrange and pay for their board and lodging during their stay.
During the 17 years of the workshop’s existence a close and valuable cooperation with institutions outside Denmark has been developed.
Each year Nagoya University of Arts sends two artists to our workshop and in return we, each year, send two artists to make a workshop and lecture at the university.
Galleria Finarte in Nagoya each year sends two artists to participate in our workshop and in return we mediate that two Danish artists exhibit at the gallery.
The institution Art Base Null in Osaka has, since 2004, yearly sent two artists to participate in our workshop. However in 2009, Mr. Non Kitamura only sends one artist.
The Pomeranian Dukes Castle in Poland, each year sends two artists to our International Workshop for Visual Artists and return we send two artists to workshop in the International Artists’ Meeting in Marianowo.
The Danish Cultural Institute in Beijing each year send one or two artists to our International Workshop for Visual Artists.
Several encounters have, during our annual workshops, resulted in more individual projects created and carried through by the artists themselves. The friendship and work relation between artists have often resulted in later exhibitions and co-operation all over the world.
We are very happy to witness that new projects between artists from different countries are developing all the time. These projects are made both within our organisations and between the artists themselves however the artists can all trace their network and friendships back to one of our International Workshops of Visual Artists in the old Round House of Brande.
