LITHUANIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE EU COUNCIL WAS MARKED BY LITHUANIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERT AND ART EXHIBITION IN AALBORG
During Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council Lithuanian culture was represented in Aalborg. The contemporary art exhibition „A Part of a Larger Whole“ was opened and the string quartet Čiurlionio Kvartetas concert took place in Aalborg on 2 November 2013. Both events took place in famous Utzon Cultural Center, which is designed by Jørn Utzon - well-known danish architect, who also designed the Opera House of Sydney.
The musicians of one of the best-known Lithuanian string quartets Čiurlionio Kvartetas Mr. Jonas Tankevičius (violin I), Mr. Darius Dikšaitis (violin II), Mr. Gediminas Dačinskas (viola), and Mr. Saulius Lipčius (violančelė) performed music by M. K. Čiurlionis, W. A. Mozart and L. van Beethoven.
The contemporary art exhibition „A Part of the Larger Whole“ contains of the twenty posters, that depict art of selected Lithuanian artists. The exhibition represents the last decade of the modern Lithuanian art.
Both events were opened by Mr. Thomas Kastrup Larsen, member of the Aalborg City Council, and H.E. Mr. Vytautas Pinkus, Ambassador of Lithuania in Denmark. Events were attended by Mr. Henning G. Jensen, Mayor of Aalborg, also members of Aalborg's business, cultural and academic communities, Lithuanian-Danish Friendship Community and Lithuanian Community in Denmark.
The events were organized by Ms. Eva Caspersen, Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in Denmark, together with Lithuanian Embassy in Copenhagen, Utzon Centre and Lithuanian-Danish Friendship Community. The events were sponsored by Aalborg's Municipality and Helnan Hotel.
