OPENING EVENT OF THE LITHUANIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION IN COPENHAGEN

Head of the European Commission Representation in Denmark Mr. Jan Høst Schmidt started the opening event by welcoming the guests. Member of the European Commission for Climate Action Ms. Connie Hedegaard thanked Irish Ambassador in Denmark Mr. Brendan Scannell for successful Irish Presidency and whished all the best to Lithuania with reaching the ambitious goals during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Ms. Connie Hedegaard also congratulated Croatia with its accession to the EU on 1 July 2013. Irish Ambassador in Denmark Mr. Brendan Scannell shared his experiences of Irish Presidency and Lithuanian Ambassador in Denmark Mr. Vytautas Pinkus presented the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency. Croatian Ambassador in Denmark Mr. Ladislav Pivčević also made a speech during the opening event.
Minister for European Affairs of Denmark Mr. Nicolai Wammen, representatives of Danish Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, other Danish institutions, press and business community as well as Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Copenhagen attended the opening event.
Lithuanian Ambassador in Denmark Mr. Vytautas Pinkus has opened exhibition of Lithuanian contemporary art Part of a Larger Whole, which will be exhibited in The Europe House in Copenhagen and in other cities of Denmark during the entire year 2013.
