Visit of Mantas Adomėnas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, to Denmark

On 21 April 2022 Deputy Foreign Minister Mantas Adomėnas paid a working visit to Copenhagen, Denmark. During the visit, meetings were held with Flemming Møller Mortensen, Danish Minister for Development and Nordic Cooperation, Carsten Grønbech-Jensen, Secretary of State for European Affairs at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ida Hannibal, Head of the Danish Prime Minister's Office for European Affairs. Mantas Adomėnas also visited the Alliance for Democracies, a Danish non-governmental organization founded by former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, where he met with Executive Director Jonas Parello-Plesner.

During the meetings, the importance of building partnerships between like-minded countries was emphasized, and discussions were held on the need to grant Ukraine the status of an EU candidate country. "Lithuania and Denmark cherish the same values, so we must spread them together in other countries," said Mantas Adomėnas.

During the meeting with the Minister of Development and Nordic Cooperation Flemming Møller Mortensen, the possibilities of Lithuanian-Danish co-operation on development, joint activities not only in the Eastern Partnership countries but also in other regions, and actualities of the bilateral relations were also discussed.

During the conversation with the Danish Secretary of State Carsten Grønbech-Jensen, specific plans for co-operation between Lithuania and Denmark as well as energy security issues were discussed.

During all the meetings, Lithuania's position and specific actions regarding Russia's aggression, the war in Ukraine and its consequences for the whole of Europe were discussed and presented.
